James P. Lewandowski passed away peacefully in his home in Holden, MA on Sunday, January 1, 2023, after a long illness.

James is survived by his son, Keith J. Lewandowski, of North Andover, MA, his wife, Nicole, and their children, Julie, Andrew, and Samantha. He is also survived by his sister, MaryAnne Anderson of Oxford, MA and six brothers: Chester and his wife, Kathy, of Winchester, VA; Stanley and his wife, Donna, of Charlton, MA; Rev. Richard of Fitchburg, MA; Thomas and his wife, Susan, of Leicester, MA; Dr. John and his wife, Elizabeth, of Windham, ME; and Peter and his wife, Deborah, of Worcester, MA. James was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Anna (Kotomski) Lewandowski, of Worcester, MA and a sister, Carolyn Killelea, of Paxton, MA. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

James was born in Worcester and lived in Central Massachusetts for his entire life, including the past 24 years in Holden. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1976 and Worcester State College in 1982. James worked for the United States Postal Service for 37 years before retiring in 2020. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Czestochowa parish in Worcester and very much enjoyed living his Catholic faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed sports, fishing, music, and working in his yard, but, most of all, he cherished spending time with his family.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home, 33 Ward St. Worcester, MA. A funeral Mass, celebrated by his brother, Rev. Richard Lewandowski, will take place on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Worcester, MA. Burial to immediately follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave, Paxton, MA.

James’ family would like to thank the exceptional caregivers—especially Betty, Philomena, Joyce, and the team at Jewish Home Healthcare—who kept him comfortable at home in the last months of his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa parish, 34 Ward St, Worcester, MA, 01610.
