Subscription Update Obituary

   Chester S. Lewandowski, 81, and his wife, Anna V. (Kotomski) Lewandowski, 78, both died yesterday. They lived at 25 Darnell Road. Mr. Lewandowski died in Memorial Hospital after an illness, and Mrs. Lewandowski died in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness.

   Mr. and Mrs. Lewandowski leave seven sons, Chester J. Lewandowski of Berryville, Va., Stanley H. Lewandowski of Charlton, the Rev. Richard P. Lewandowski of Fitchburg, Thomas J. Lewandowski of Leicester, Dr. John F. Lewandowski of Lewiston, Maine, James P. Lewandowski of Holden and Peter A. Lewandowski of Worcester; a daughter, Mary Anne Anderson of Auburn; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A daughter, Carolyn E. Killelea of Paxton, died in 1993. Mr. Lewandowski’s sister, Josephine Trahant of Worcester, died in 1995.

   Mrs. Lewandowski is also survived by two sisters, Theresa Shablin and Stasia Durling, both of Auburn.

   Mr. Lewandowski was born in Worcester, son of Frank and Clemantina (Obudzinski) Lewandowski. He graduated from Classical High School.

   He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving as a staff sergeant with the Army Medical Corps in the Asian-Pacific, including Okinawa.

   Mr. Lewandowski was a clerk with the U.S. Postal Service for 11 years, retiring in 1983. He was previously a wiredrawer at the American Steel & Wire Division, U.S. Steel Corp., where he worked for 35 years. He was a life member of the Polish-American Veterans of World War II.

   Mrs. Lewandowski was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Antonina (Getek) Kotomski. She graduated from Commerce High School.

   Mr. and Mrs. Lewandowski were members of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, where he was a parish collector for 45 years.

   A con-celebrated funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St. Their son, the Rev. Richard P. Lewandowski, will be the principal celebrant. Entombment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Henry Funeral Home, 33 Ward St. Members of the Polish-American Veterans of World War II will meet there at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow to conduct a ritual. Instead of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Memorial Fund, 34 Ward St., Worcester, MA 01610; or the Newman Center, Fitchburg State College, 333 Mechanic St., Fitchburg, MA 01421.
