Subscription Update Obituary

Richard E Whittemore Sr, 79, of Oxford, MA passed away peacefully on Thursday June 2nd, 2022 after a long illness. He was born April 11, 1943 in Worcester, MA to Frank Whittemore SR and Glayds Whittemore (Taylor), predeceased. He moved to Saco, ME in 1991 with his predeceased wife Dorothy E. (Hazen) Whittemore of 22 years. Richard was 1 of 5 children, Frank Whittemore JR, Ronald Whittemore, Eleanor Skagerlind, and David Whittemore. He is survived by his two sons, Richard E. Whittemore, Jr. and his wife, Catherine of Oxford and Kevin Whittemore and his wife, Jennifer of Worcester; three daughters, Dawn Powell and her predeceased husband, Dean of Oxford, Kelly Crespo and her husband, Jose of Holden and Louanne Gray of Worcester County; his stepchildren, Louie Besaw wife Paula Besaw ( Peduzzi) of Leicester, Dia-marie Marti (Besaw) husband Rigoberto Marti, of Worcester and Mark Besaw of Worcester. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Richard honored his nation by serving 4 years in the US Army being a mechanic. Richard worked as a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed watching Nascar and car shows. He enjoyed traveling with his wife until he got sick in 2009 from a stroke.

A  11:00 a.m. graveside service for Richard will be held on June 10, 2022 in the Prayer section of Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave, Paxton, MA.   In Lieu of flowers we ask donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s foundation (www.alzfdn.org).  Services are in the care of MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL – Worcester, MA
