Dorothy E. (Hazen) Whittemore, 75, of Old Orchard Beach died Friday, July 8th 2011, in UMass Memorial Medical Center.

She leaves her husband of 22 years, Richard E. Whittemore, Sr.; two sons, Carl Howard and his wife, Donna of Dennis and Ryan MacDermott and his wife, Lisa of Auburn; a daughter, Carline LaPlante and her husband, Edward of Charlton; two stepsons, Richard E. Whittemore, Jr. and his wife, Catherine of Oxford and Kevin Whittemore and his wife, Jennifer of Worcester; three stepdaughters, Dawn Powell and her husband, Dean of Oxford, Kelly Crespo and her husband, Jose of Worcester and Louanne Gray of Spencer; two brothers, Edwin Hazen and his wife, Faith of Worcester and Ronald Hazen of New Braintree; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Henry Hazen and lived there for 55 years before moving to Maine 20 years ago. She worked at various motels and campgrounds for the last 15 years at the front desk and in housekeeping.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 12th at NOON in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Dorothy’s name to O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA 01603. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is directing arrangements.
