Phyllis Mae (Joudrey) Fleming, 88 years old, of Worcester, MA and Siesta Key, FL died Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester after a sudden and unexpected return of Cancer, since beating it 13 years ago. Her son and her sister were by her side and holding her hands. Phyllis was born in Worcester, MA on September 8, 1933, one of two daughters born to Edith (Wentzell) Joudrey and Alvin Joudrey, both Canadian immigrants from the province of Nova Scotia. She was predeceased by both of her parents and her husband of 66 years, John Patrick Fleming also of Worcester, MA and Siesta Key, FL. She is survived by her son Timothy Patrick Fleming, his wife Heather (Stober) and grandson Patrick, all of Fairhaven, MA. She is also survived by her sister Barbara (Joudrey) Chad and her husband Donald Chad of Worcester, nieces, nephews and friends. Phyllis was a lifelong resident of Tatnuck Square in Worcester. She was a graduate of Commerce High School in 1950 in Worcester and over the years she worked at Norton Company, The US Census Bureau and Starr Realty. Phyllis met John Patrick Fleming and they married in 1953. They were happily married for 66 years until John passed away in March of 2020. They had one son, Timothy Patrick Fleming. Phyllis was devoted to her family and took great pride in her role as daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, friend, and for the last 13 years of her life, grandmother. She was also determined and dedicated to taking care of her husband in the last few years of his life as dementia started to take its toll.

When her husband passed away in March of 2020, she patiently waited to safely return to her Worcester home to be with her family, but Covid-19 delayed that process. She embraced that year and a half with grace and positivity and engaged in many phone and video calls with her friends and family and made the best of a challenging situation. Her love for technology and her willingness to embrace it over the years made that year and a half much easier to handle and her family is forever grateful. Lots of laughs and memories were made over Skype. She enjoyed being a resident of La Siesta Condominiums on Siesta Key in Sarasota, Florida. Over the years, along with her husband and the many friends they made, she enjoyed going to the theater, dining out, calling bingo, holidays in the recreation hall and sitting around the pool with her lady friends. She also enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, knitting, investing, reading to her grandson, dining out, ice cream, learning about new technology, watching competitive ice skating and going to the beach, specifically Hampton Beach, Siesta Key Beach and in later years, the beaches in Fairhaven, MA. She loved to talk on the phone with her friends and would do so daily. She was kind and caring and she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers please make donations to American Cancer Society. All services will be private.
