Subscription Update Obituary

     Norman B. Stanikmas, Sr., 87, of Worcester, died Friday, April 3rd, 2015 in Knollwood Nursing Home. His wife of 64 years, Irene I. (Cassidy) Stanikmas died in 2011. He leaves his son, Mark D. Stanikmas and his wife, Brenda of West Brookfield and his daughter Mary-Beth Stanikmas of Worcester; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by two sons, John J. Stanikmas and Norman B. Stanikmas, Jr.

He was born in Worcester, the son of John and Doris (Baker) Stanikmas. Mr. Stanikmas had served in the United States Army during World War II and then in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education from Clark University. Mr. Stanikmas had been an Industrial Arts Teacher at Doherty Memorial High School for twenty years. He was a member of Christ the King Parish and the Massachusetts Teachers Association.

His funeral is Thursday, April 9th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with his funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 8th from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Knollwood Nursing Home Activities Fund, 87 Briarwood Circle, West Boylston, MA 01583.
