Subscription Update Obituary

Irene I. (Cassidy) Stanikmas, of Worcester died, Monday, October 31st 2011 in UMass Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Norman B. Stanikmas; two sons, Norman B. Stanikmas, Jr. of Worcester and Mark D. Stanikmas and his wife, Brenda of West Brookfield; her daughter, Mary-Beth Stanikmas of Worcester; her sister-in-law, Shirley Cassidy of Worcester; twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Her son John J. Stanikmas, II, died in 1994, and she was also predeceased by two brothers, John and Robert Cassidy and by three sisters, Kathryn Loughlin, Doris Stuart and Frances Cassidy. She was born in Worcester the daughter of John J. and Margaret V. (Kelleher) Cassidy.

Mrs. Stanikmas had worked as a registered nurse at the former City Hospital, Memorial Hospital and continued to provide care as a long term care nurse until she retired two years ago. She received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Anna Maria College; and was a member of Christ the King Parish.

Her funeral is Saturday, November 5th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with her funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park. Calling hours are Friday, November 4th from 5:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation , 85 Astor Avenue, Norwood, MA 02062.
