Subscription Update Obituary

     Mary M. (Sheehan) McCarthy, 84, died peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 15, 2017.  Mary was born in Worcester, and was the daughter of James C. and Theresa (Brown) Sheehan.

Mary graduated from Commerce High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College.  She went on to work as a Medical Secretary in the office of Dr. Edward Kazarian, retiring in 1986.  Mary had a passion for education and was the proud recipient of the Horace Mann Scholar.  She was Past President of the National Congress for Educational Excellence and was an avid reader.  Mary loved swimming, puzzles and sewing and had been an active member of the Jewish Community Center in Worcester for many years.  Her compassion, sharp witt and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who knew her.

Her husband of 53 years, Anthony J. McCarthy passed away in 2010.  Mary is survived by her daughters, Maureen F. McCarthy and her partner of 14 years, Katherine Quintana of Dublin, CA and Melinda A. McGraw of Holden; sisters, Dorothy A. Laliberte of Spencer and Helen R. Shute of North Grafton; grandchildren, Maurice, Ryan and Shane; several nieces and nephews; as well as her best friend of over 70 years, Katherine Hebert.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 12 noon to 1 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Wednesday, July 19th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ascentria Adoption Services, 14 East Worcester St., Suite 300, Worcetser, MA 01604.
