Subscription Update Obituary

     Geraldine “Gerry” J. (Davis) Westerlind, 90, a lifetime resident of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, June 19, 2015 in Saint Vincent Hospital with her family by her side. Her husband and partner of 63 years, Robert “Bud” F. Westerlind died in September of 2008.
Geraldine is survived by her five children, David Westerlind of Millbury, Gene E. Westerlind and his wife Cheryl of Millbury, Dennis A. Westerlind, Linda J. Westerlind and Carol Bernardi all of Worcester; seven cherished grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her son, Robert F. Westerlind, Jr.; two brothers, Eugene E. Davis and Robert C. Davis and a sister, Jane Laventure and son in law Michael F. Bernardi. The family would like to thank Albert “Babe” Pino for the care and company he provided Gerry in her declining years.
Geraldine was the daughter of the late Horace C. & Aldia M (Magnan) Davis and was born in Worcester on February 14, 1925.
Geraldine attended Worcester Public Schools where she met the love of her life, Bud, at the age of 15. She worked at Cornell-Dubilier Electric Corp. during the war and married Bud upon his return from the Pacific Theatre. She spent the next 20 years raising her family. Gerry worked in food service for Assumption College then at St. Vincent Hospital as a Group Leader of the housekeeping department until her retirement in 1988. In the following years she enjoyed playing Bingo with the girls, trips to York Beach and the casino with Bud. She frequently entertained family and friends in her home which always had an open door and a hot meal. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Geraldine touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 22, 2015. Her funeral will be celebrated Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from the funeral home with a procession to Immaculate Conception Parish, 353 Grove Street, Worcester where her Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow to Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
