Subscription Update Obituary

     Francis “Franny” G. Bachand, 84, of the Rochdale section of Leicester, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 after a short illness, while wintering in Florida.

His wife of 47 years, Clara M. (Babineau) (Dufresne) Bachand died September 22, 2013. He leaves four sons Brian Bachand and his wife Angela of Worcester, Michael Bachand and his wife Erin of Dover, NH, Gerard Dufresne and his wife Maryann of Auburn, Raymond Dufresne and his wife Beverly of Ogunquite, ME; three daughters Marie Smith, Nancy Perkins and her husband James, and Emily Perkins and her husband David all of Rochdale; two sisters Blanche Pisecki of Shrewsbury and Margaret Robidoux of Auburn; 18 grand, 29 great grand, and 7 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister Theresa Moncreif.

Francis was born June 6, 1930 in Worcester, the son of George E. Bachand and Lea M. (Cote) Bachand. He was a graduate of Holy Name High School, served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and worked as a machinist for Wyman-Gordan Co., retiring in 1992 after 36 years.

He was a member of the Rochdale V.F.W., and was formerly a driver for Meals on Wheels. He loved fishing and his time in Florida.

Per his request, there will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family at Worcester County Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will be held for family and friends at the Chester P. Tuttle Post, 88 Bancroft Street, Auburn on Saturday, February 14th from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
