Ernest W. Henry Jr., passed away at home surrounded by his family on April 7, 2023. He celebrated his 93rd birthday on March 3, 2023.

Ernie was a lifelong resident of Worcester, MA., and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He worked for Stop & Shop for 50 years. He was very athletic and an avid fan of baseball, softball, and the Green Bay Packers. Ernie played for various softball leagues and teams including Senior Softball, participating in many senior tournaments on Cape Cod until he was well into his 80’s. Ernie also coached the Notre Dame girls’ softball team and was an excellent candlepin bowler.

Ernie was a member of the Greendale Men’s Club. An excellent card player, Ernie belonged to both the Shrewsbury and Grafton Pitch Leagues. He was also a cribbage player, scoring a perfect 29, with that score and his name appearing in the Worcester Telegram and Gazette in Dianne Williamson’s column.

Ernie is survived by his loving family. A brother, Richard (Roberta) Henry; a sister, Joyce (Leo) Gravel; his son, Michael (Elaine) Henry; a daughter, Eleanor (Stephan) Norling; son, Robert Henry and Robert’s partner, Lisa Richardson; sister-in-law, Susan Henry; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
