Carol A. (Reed) Henry of Shrewsbury passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Carol is survived by the love of her life and best friend, Ernest W. Henry; her 3 children, Michael (Elaine) Henry, Eleanor (Stephen) Norling and Robert (Kim) Henry; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles; and extended family members and several cousins including Marcella Dumas, who was like a sister to her.

Born in Worcester in 1937, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Julia (Walinsky) Reed. Carol graduated from Commerce High School in 1955 and later moved to Shrewsbury. She worked for and retired from Stop & Shop, after 28 years.

Carol loved bowling, the Red Sox, the Green Bay Packers, watching senior softball and spending time with her “Chandler” friends.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful and caring staff of Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and especially to Ann, Emily and Colleen, her hospice coordinators, for being so attentive and assuring Carol’s final days were filled with peace and comfort. Carol will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit with Carol’s family from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 15th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
