Subscription Update Obituary

Eleanor J. “Ellie” (Newcomb) Amoruso, 86 of Charlton formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at the Christopher House.

Ellie was born in Ware, Massachusetts, a daughter to the late Ralph and Ivah (Cody) Newcomb.  She graduated from Barre High School and later received her associate’s degree in secretarial finishing from Becker Junior College.  Ellie was a secretary for many years at various businesses in the Worcester Area.  She was the past president of the Lake View School PTA, enjoyed family gatherings, cooking, bowling, dancing and spending winters with her husband and many friends in Boynton Beach, Florida.

Ellie is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Leo J. Amoruso; two sons, Joseph L. Amoruso and Thomas R. Amoruso and his wife Jill Johnson of Marlborough; her daughter, Sharon L. Dahrooge and her husband Ken of Charlton; five grandchildren, Andrew Dahrooge, Lauryn Breen, Jillian Dahrooge, Nina (Amoruso) Cruzado and Anthony Amrouso; one great grandson, Isaiah Cruzado.  She is predeceased by her sister, Doris Newcomb.

Ellie’s family would like to thank all the staff at the Christopher House for the care and compassion given to Ellie during her time with them.

Services for Ellie will be held privately.  MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: The Christopher House, 10 Mary Scano Dr., Worcester, MA. 01604.
