Dorothy Mae (Adubato)Vassar,82, of Charlton, it is with great sadness that our family has to announce the death of Dorothy. She died peacefully on June 13, 2023 at home surrounded by loved ones.

Dorothy was born on July 17, 1940 in Worcester, MA the daughter of the late Raymond and Dorothy (Walsh) Adubato. She had two brothers, Raymond Bard of Amherst, VA and Paul McManus of San Francisco, CA, and a sister Judy Wallis (deceased) from Bellmore, NY. She married her husband, Kenneth Vassar, on October 6, 1962.

Dorothy graduated from nursing school in Worcester, MA in 1962 and was a critical care nurse for 50 years until she retired in 2012. Dorothy enjoyed lounging by the pool and soaking up the sun. She loved to take care of her garden and flowers and always made sure her yard was beautiful. Dorothy’s kind heart and generosity never went unnoticed. She was always trying to help anyone and everyone she could, which is what made her such an incredible nurse, wife, mother and grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Kenneth F. Vassar, her son, Jeffrey M. Vassar and his wife, Michelle (Giroux) Vassar, her granddaughter, Taylor M. Vassar and her great-granddaughter, Mia N. Vassar, all from Charlton, MA.

Friends and family are invited to attend calling hours on Saturday, June 17, 2023 from 9:30- 10:45AM in Pillsbury Funeral Home 44 Gilbert St. North Brookfield. A graveside service will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton.
