Constance “Connie” A. (LaVoie) Burgess, 83 of Plantation Street, Worcester, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 21, 2014 in Knollwood Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Connie is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carlton V. Burgess. She was the loving mother of 6 children, Donna M. Maki and her husband Robert of Worcester, Patricia A. Olson and her husband Michael Olson, Sr. of NH, Richard W. Burgess and his wife Kathleen M. (Harrington) Burgess of Spencer, Robert C. Burgess and his fiancĂ© Patricia LeFort, Nancy J. Cormier, Cathleen M. Warner and her husband Dana all of Worcester; one other child of whom she loved as her own, Lori A. DeFlorio of Worcester; a sister, Barbara A. Christianson of Holden; a sister-in-law, Theresa (Daw) LaVoie of Worcester; a brother-in-law, Eugene LeBlanc of Grafton; 18 Grandchildren, Sharlene, Christine “Tina”, Michael Jr., Brian, Kate, Julie, Daniel, Craig, Malinda, Randie, Corey, Rebecca, Jacob, Anjelica, Jarret, Samantha, Sarah and Jordan; 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a granddaughter, Heather Lynne Burgess; 2 brothers, Robert and William LaVoie; a sister, Eileen LeBlanc. Connie was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Alfred J. and Edith (Elie) LaVoie and attended Worcester Girls Trade School. She worked for many years as a Personal Care Assistant and Nurse’s Aide, retiring from Beaumont Nursing and Rehabilitation and The Willows in Westborough. She enjoyed family and friends, camping, traveling especially to Las Vegas and Hawaii.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and thanks to the staff of both the Summit Eldercare Team and Knollwood Nursing Center of Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 26th from 9:30-10:30 a.m.in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. with her funeral service immediately following at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
