Subscription Update Obituary

   Alphonse F. “Chick” LaPorte, 88, of Harrison Avenue, died Wednesday December 12th at home, after an illness.

He leaves his beloved wife of 66 years, Dorothy M. (Nault) LaPorte; his daughter, Dorothy A., wife of Emile “Butch” Montville of Auburn; his two grandchildren, Timothy F. Montville and Tina M. Guerin, and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his three brothers, Alfred F., Paul F. and George F. LaPorte. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late George J. and Lea V. (Donais) LaPorte. He has lived in Auburn for years. He was a proud Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.

Mr. LaPorte retired from the Nels-Jamesbury Corporation in Worcester. He previously had worked as a welder for the former Leland-Gifford Company, Worcester until its closing. He was a member of North American Martyrs Parish in Auburn, a life member of the Chester P. Tuttle American Legion Post, a member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks, and enjoyed participating in activities at the Auburn Senior Center. He was an avid candlepin bowler and loved to play cards, especially cribbage.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Chick’s family on Thursday December 13th from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn. His funeral will be held on Friday, December 14th from the funeral home with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Dr., Auburn. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Auburn Lodge of Elks Scholarship Fund, 754 Southbridge St., Auburn, MA 01501 or to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
