Subscription Update Obituary

      Alfred G. Perron, Sr., 81, of 8 Clark Terr., died Thursday, Oct. 18 in UMASS-Memorial Hospital in Worcester after a long illness.

He leaves his wife, Claire B. (Gadbois) Perron; a daughter, Claire B. Harding and her husband Philip; four sons, Alfred G. Perron, Jr. and his wife Edith, Arthur J. Perron, Gerald E. Perron and his wife Michelle and Richard P. Perron and his wife Tina all of Spencer; a brother, Joseph Henry Perron of New Braunfels, TX.; two sisters, Theresa Johnson and Bernadette Pervier both of Spencer; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Mr. Perron was an inspector at Smith Valve Corp. in Westboro, where he worked for 26 years.

Born in Spencer, he was the son of Henry J. and Loretta (Gaudette) Perron and lived here all of his life.

Mr. Perron was active in the Boy Scouts having served as Scout Master for Troop 116 and chartered Troop 201 both in Spencer. He was a former Spencer Firefighter for more than 20 years. He was a member of the South Spencer Community Club and longtime member and collector at Mary, Queen of the Rosary Parish. He was a member of the Sacred Heart League at the former St. Mary’s Church. An avid gardener for most of his life, he loved and cherished his family and grandchildren.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Friday, Oct. 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Troop 201, B.S.A., c/o Kenneth Choquette, 20 Old Farm Rd., Spencer, MA 01562.
