Winifred T. (Cassidy) Tetreault, 94, of Worcester, died Friday, August 19, 2022 at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years Robert “Red” Tetreault in 1995. As a couple they were very active in Veterans affairs, Red served as the Massachusetts State Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars 1985-86.

She leaves three children, Robert D. Tetreault and his wife Lisa of St. Petersburg, Fla., Karen M. Speroni of Millbury, and Christopher A. Tetreault and his wife Laurine of Sterling; and eight grandchildren, R.J. and Zachary Tetreault, Samuel, Dillon and Austin Tetreault, and Kallie, Elena, and Jack Speroni, and their father Michael; and many friends including her close friend Walter Dauderis.

Winnie was predeceased by three brothers, Bernard, Frank and George Cassidy, and three sisters, Veronica Van Alstyne, Monica Buttrick and Patricia Mallet.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of Michael P. and Selina W. (Newton) Cassidy and lived in Worcester all her life. She graduated from the former Worcester Commerce High School.

She worked for the State Mutual Life Assurance Co. and later Hanover Insurance Co., where she was a manager in its Policy Services Dept. retiring after 47 years with the company.

Winnie was a longtime member of Our Lady of Providence Parish at St. Bernard’s Church and dedicated to her faith.

She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow. She lived a very active life with her husband Red, traveling to VFW functions and was blessed with many great friends. She remained very active well into her 94th year. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, painting and in recent years spending time with Walter. She continued serving veterans holding several leadership positions with the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 6907 in West Boylston.

The family would like to thank Notre Dame Long Term Health Care for the kindness they showed our mother during her brief time with them.

She will be dearly missed by her family, several nieces and nephews and many true friends.

Calling hours will be Saturday, August 27, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Church, 228 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
