Subscription Update Obituary

     Winifred (Tierney) Carney, 89, formerly of Esther Street, Worcester, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Odd Fellows Home.

Winifred’s husband of 44 years, Thomas I. Carney predeceased her on November 23, 1991. She leaves two daughters, Carol A. Cataldo and her husband Charles Cerrone of Worcester and Maureen A. Higgins and her husband Leo of Austin, TX; eight grandchildren, Nichole Cataldo, Erin McDonnell, Ashley Cataldo, and Leo, Patrick, Ryan Thomas and Devin Higgins; three great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three brothers, David, George and William Tierney and two sisters, Agnes Kasputis and Frances Curran.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late David and Mary (Rushton) Tierney and graduated from Commerce High School. Mrs. Carney had worked in the produce department at Price Chopper for 11 years and prior to that, she had worked at the Big D Supermarket since 1964.

Funeral services and interment in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton will be private. Arrangements are under the care of LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 Butler Street, Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Winifred’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
