Subscription Update Obituary

William L. Oriente, 86, of Spencer, MA passed away February 17, 2023.  He leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Carolyn (Caforio) Oriente of Spencer; his children Deena Gagnon and her husband Marc of Merrimack, NH, Mark Oriente and his wife Elizabeth of Charlton, and Jenna Landry and her husband Phil of Douglas; grandchildren Kayla DiManna and her husband Jeff of NH, Julie Gagnon of RI, Joseph and Anthony Oriente of Charlton, Luke Oriente-Dano of Douglas; step-grandchildren Maggie, Ben, and Matt Landry;  sister-in-law Audrey Oriente of Auburn, brother-in-law Roger Ouellette of Hackettstown, NJ, brother-in-law Michael Caforio and his wife Mary of Worcester and brother-in-law Dennis Caforio of FL; several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents Ernest J and Theresa (Luvisi) Oriente, a sister, Marie Ouellette, and a brother, Ernest (Chic) Oriente.

Bill was born and raised in Worcester and was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade School.  He served 8 years in the Army National Guard.  Bill worked as an electrician and retired from Quinsigamond Community College in 2002. He loved the outdoors and was a passionate gardener, “putterer”, and home renovator.  He will be remembered as smart, quiet and reserved.  He loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life by gathering on Thursday, February 23 from 10:00-11:30 am at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at St. Columba Parish, 10 Richards Ave, Paxton, with interment in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Bill’s memory to the charity of their choice.
