Subscription Update Obituary

     William J. Gallagher, 78, of Millbury and formerly of Waltham died Tuesday, October 3rd in the Hermitage Nursing Home. He leaves his beloved wife of 42 years, Patricia M. (Wallace) Gallagher; three sons, William J. Gallagher and his wife, Denise of Millbury, David B. Gallagher of Waltham and Timothy C. Gallagher of Millbury; a sister, Pauline Payonzeck of PA; brother in law, David F. Wallace and his wife, Donna of NY and FL; sisters in law, Christine Donovan and her husband, Mark of Hudson, NH and Jean Gallagher and her children, Kathleen, Leah and Robert; two granddaughters, Mckenzie and Rylie; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Gallagher.
He was born in Brighton the son of William J. and Elizabeth (Carter) Gallagher. William worked for the Waltham Housing Authority for 10 years in the maintenance department, retiring in 2001. He previously worked for the Veteran’s Administration in Bedford, Hanscom Air Force Base and owned Hunnewell Market in Newton. William was a veteran serving with the United States Marine Corps. His favorite pastime was the time he spent with his granddaughters and spending time at Castle Island.
His funeral is Wednesday, October 11th in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester with a service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 AM in the funeral home.
