Subscription Update Obituary

William J. Desrosiers, 81, of Barre and formerly of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center – University Campus.

Bill was married for 55 years to the late Nancy C. (Forand) Desrosiers who died in April 2020. He is survived by his three children, David Desrosiers of Worcester; Jeanne Magliaro and her husband, Thomas of Barre and James Desrosiers of Oakham; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and many nephews and nieces.

Mr. Desrosiers was born in Worcester, son of the late George T. and Alexina (Allard) Desrosiers. He was also predeceased by his three brothers, Paul, Robert and Richard Desrosiers.

Bill graduated from the former Commerce High School in Worcester and worked for many years as a machinist and tool shed operator for the Norton – Saint Gobain Company and later worked as security personnel at UNUM Insurance for the Allard Barton Company.

Mr. Desrosiers was an avid camper and spent many summers with his family and friends at the Pout and Trout Campground in Rutland. He was an enthusiastic baseball fan and loved his Boston Red Sox. Bill always welcomed a good game of horseshoes and enjoyed taking trips to the casino. He was truly the happiest when he was spending time with his family and his beloved dogs.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 24, at 11 AM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. Burial with military honors will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 11 AM before the funeral service on Tuesday.
