Subscription Update Obituary

William D. Helm, 72, of Worcester passed away Wednesday, November 10, 2021 in the Oasis at Dodge Park.

He leaves his partner and best friend of over 30 years, Marcia Bowles; ten cousins, whom he thought of as siblings, Bonnie Gallo, William “Mac” Lynch, Kathy Wrobel, Judy Heath, Joanne Morin, Charles Swisher, Dennis Swisher, Robert Swisher, Eileen Fontaine and Lucy Garabedian and their extended families. One cousin, Mark Swisher, predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of David A. and Ann M. (Lynch) Helm and graduated in 1966 from Saint John’s High School and in 1970 from the College of the Holy Cross.

Billy was employed by the William F. Lynch Company. During his close to fifty years he filled many positions from warehouse managing, project estimating, project management and manpower scheduling for the piping trades for all projects.

He also served for over thirty years as a management trustee for UA Local 4 Plumbers and Pipefitters Health and Welfare fund.

Billy had a great love of the game of golf and was a longtime member of Tatnuck Country Club. He also loved to watch just about any sporting event, although one of his favorites was attending the annual St. John’s/St. Peter’s Thanksgiving Football game. He was also a voracious reader, and would read about anything he could get his hands on.

Visiting Hours are Sunday, November 14 from 1 to 4pm at Callahan Fay Caswell Life Celebration Home, 61 Myrtle St. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, November 15 at 10am in the Cathedral of St. Paul, 15 Chatham St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cathedral of St. Paul or St. John’s High School, 378 Main St., Shrewsbury, 01545.
