Wendy E. Monfreda (Washburn), 65, passed away at home on December 29, 2025, after a brief illness.

Born on October 7, 1960, Wendy spent her early years in Worcester. She raised her sons in Paxton, devoting herself to her family and home, and later returned to Worcester, remaining close to her roots and lifelong connections.

Wendy was devoted to her family and took great pride in her roles as a mother and grandmother. Known lovingly as “Bubby” to her grandchildren, she cherished the time she spent with them. She also dedicated many years of service as an administrative assistant in the Cardiology Department at UMass Memorial Health, where she was known for her reliability, professionalism, and care for others.

She enjoyed vacationing in Kennebunk and traveling with her husband and their friends, including trips to Ireland and Paris. She also enjoyed a trip to Hawaii with her son, Michael.

She is survived by her husband, James Welsh; her sons, Anthony Monfreda and his wife, Melissa, Michael Monfreda, and Nicholas Monfreda; her step children Rebecca, John and Rachel; her grandchildren, Josh, Abbie, Brayden and Payton; her brother, Steven Washburn and his wife, Barbara, and her sister, Robin Washburn; along with extended family and friends who will miss her deeply.

She was predeceased by her grandmother, Celia Goldstein; her mother, Marlyn Kephart; her stepfather, Kenneth Kephart; and her father, Seldon Washburn.

Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
