Subscription Update Obituary

     Walter E. Landgren, Jr., 82, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 with his loving family by his side including his wife, Lisa, son, Michael, daughter, Jennifer and as always his beloved dog, Gator. Born and raised in Worcester, Walter was a son of Walter and Catherine (MacDonald) Landgren, Sr. and was educated in the Worcester Public Schools.

After graduating from Worcester Boys Trade High School, Walter proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps. Upon his return, Walter went on to further his education at Clark University where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He enjoyed a long career as an Independent Insurance Agent throughout the local area and at one time was the owner and operator of Commercial Business Insurance Agency.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 201, The Marine Corps League, the Tun Tavern Society and was a fifty year member of the Free Masons. He volunteered his time to the Massachusetts Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired. In his early years, Walter enjoyed boating and race cars; and spending many years with his family at their summer home in West Yarmouth. He owned several sports cars and was a NASCAR enthusiast as well as a New England Patriots fan.

Walter will be forever missed and remembered by his loving and devoted wife, Lisa (Lamarre) Landgren, having celebrated their 30th anniversary on June 20th. He also leaves his sons, Scott W. Landgren and his wife, Karla of Natick and Michael C. Landgren and his wife, Stefanie of Northborough; his daughters, Elizabeth A. Shaughnessy of Cleveland, OH and Jennifer L. Tremba of Holden; his brother, Paul Landgren and his wife, Anita of Lebanon, OR; his sisters, Virginia Skalka of Levittown, PA and Wilma Bogar and her husband, Jim of Vernon, CT; his seven grandchildren, John Landgren, Devin Mott and Ethan Boynton, Joseph and Julia Landgren and Alice and Tyler Tremba and their father, Jon Tremba; many lifelong friends; and his two beloved and faithful companions, Gator and Sheba. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Donald Landgren.

Walter’s family would like to express their gratitude for the kind and compassionate care he received from Dr. Shepro and his staff as well as Sister Jane and his nurse, Laurie from the JHC Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Walter’s family from 4 – 6 p.m. on Friday, July 7 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A service to honor and remember Walter’s life will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, followed by burial with military honors at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to NEADS, P.O. Box 1100, Princeton, MA 01541.
