Subscription Update Obituary

   Walter B. "Bing" Kotel, 93, died Thursday, July 3rd after a short illness.

   He leaves his wife, Marjorie D. (Higgins) Kotel; two daughters, Kathleen D. Kotel and Devra J. Kotel both of Leicester; a son, Steven W. Kotel and his wife, Donna of Ft. Myers, Florida; two sisters, Genevieve Ciborowski of Worcester and Frances wife of Vincent Kasauskas of Norwood; a brother, Michael Kotel of Worcester and Cape Coral, Florida; a daughter-in-law, Kristin Kotel of Worcester; five grandchildren, Korey Krier, Jamie Bastille, Brant Kotel, Erin Campbell and Shane Kotel; nine great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Michelina (Minekauskas) Kotel; a son, James Kotel and two brothers, Edmund and Tofil Kotel.

   Mr. Kotel was a machinist at the former Crompton & Knowles Co. in Worcester for over 40 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member and former secretary of Union #3274. He was a life long member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was active in the church's organizations and also the East Millbury Community Association. He was an avid bowler and a sports fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and the Celtics.

   His funeral will be held Monday, July 7th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. in Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to his funeral on Monday, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West Brookline, MA 02445.
