Subscription Update Obituary

“Ginny” Virginia A. (Welch) Gosler, 73, of Worcester, passed peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital.

She leaves a son Kevin Gosler and his wife Donna of Auburn, two daughters, Heather Rivard and her husband Paul of Barre, and Lisa Gosler of Worcester, with whom she lived;; five grandchildren, Amanda Sabine and her husband C.J., Katelyn and Allison Rivard, Eric and Becky Loring;, Jillian and Matt Ducat; five siblings, Bob Welch and his wife Cindy of Worcester, Jack Welch and his wife Karen of

Rutland, a brother-in-law Robert Arvidson of Holden Elizabeth Capuano and her husband James, Marguerite Foster and her husband John, and Thomas Welch and his wife Roberta, all of Worcester; Megan Welch, who was like a third daughter to Ginny; her former husband Thomas Gosler of Venice, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Her sister Mary Arvidson predeceased her.

Virginia was born in Worcester, daughter of George M. and Catherine M. (O’Donnell) Welch, and lived in Worcester all her life. She was in the first graduating class at Burncoat High School.

Virginia worked in the cafeteria at. Hanover Insurance Co. and later at Allamerica Insurance Coin Worcester for 20 years.

Virginia was a longtime member of St. Joan of Arc Church where she volunteered as a youth advisor. She enjoyed relaxing near the ocean, especially at Hampton Beach.

Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Calling hours are Wednesday, January 26, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. The funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 27, at 11 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Virginia’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
