Subscription Update Obituary

     Virginia G. (Gale) Lamoreaux, 85, died on Friday, March 30, 2018 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home. She was born in Boston and raised by her adoptive parents the late William and May Clementson.

Her loving husband of 51 years, Edward D. Lamoreaux, passed away in 2010. She leaves two daughters, Ruth E. Hutchins and her husband, Brian of Rutland and Donna L. Smith of Pomfret, CT; a sister, Barbara Prentiss and her husband, Arthur; two grandsons, Brian and Jeffrey Smith. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth Gale, Shirley Wruble, Patricia Mathews and Esther Carlson.

Mrs. Lamoreaux was a bookkeeper for several area companies including State Mutual and the Town of Holden. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Rutland, Rutland Grange, The Red Hat Society, AARP, the “Happy Sams” Camping Club, treasurer for the Friends of the Rutland Council on Aging and was a former director of the Rutland Senior Center. Virginia along with her husband enjoyed square dancing, camping and senior bus trips.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Sat., April 7, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street, Rutland.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Rutland, P.O. Box 484, Rutland, MA 01543. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
