Virginia E. (Bassett) Quitadamo died on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 She was 85.
She was born in Worcester on March 15, 1929, daughter of the late Harry D. and Lily (Olson) Bassett and graduated from the former Commerce High School. She married Ralph P. Quitadamo on July 1, 1948, with the intent of raising a large family. She succeeded. They raised 6 children in the home they shared in Worcester for over 50 years. Upon retirement, Ginny and Ralph enjoyed summers at their cottage in Oak Bluffs, MA. Ginny worked as a dining services manager for the Paul Revere Insurance Company.
Virginia was active in her children’s lives. She served as a Cub Scouts’ Den Mother, a PTO member, a Campfire Girls Leader and sat on the Board of Directors for the Worcester chapter. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the East Side Post 201 American Legion. She loved to cook, especially for her family, and dance, especially with her husband, and was a faithful member of Hadwen Park Congregational Church and its Bible study group.
In heaven, Virginia joins her husband Ralph who died April 4, 2006 and her son, Richard Quitadamo who died May 13, 2013, and her brother, Harry Bassett.
She leaves her children, Ralph “Paul” Quitadamo of Worcester, Anthony Quitadamo and his wife, Kim, of Holden, Marcia E. Quitadamo of Worcester, Dianne M. Lowe and her husband, Kenneth, of Oak Bluffs, and Susan M. Hunt and her husband, Kevin, of Charlton; her daughter-in-law Julie (Wood) Quitadamo of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren, Richard and Matthew Quitadamo, Angela and Beth Quitadamo, Rebecca Wood, Corey Lowe, Cole and Bradley Quitadamo, Hugo and Elliott Hunt; her great-grandchildren, Ceasar and Matteo Quitadamo, Ainsley and Cian Moran, Catherine and Esme Wood; nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Virginia’s life by gathering for calling hours at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center on Friday, November 21st from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday morning in Hadwen Park Congregational Church, 6 Clover Street, Worcester where her Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Judith Hanlon will officiate. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
