Virginia A.B. “Jini” Haigh, 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2021. Up until her passing, she lived in Dennis, MA, where she’d resided for 38 years. With family at her side, her last words were filled with her infamous humor and abundant love.

Born in Boston, MA on September 20, 1922, Jini lived a full and beautiful life. Her childhood home in Randolph, MA was filled with four sisters. Through the Great Depression and World War II, she stayed close to her family and many friends and worked at the Naval Shipyards in Boston. She met the love of her life, Hermann, in 1945. Their courtship was quick, followed by 45 wonderful years of marriage, and two beloved sons.

“Nana Haigh” was a force of nature, a passionate conversationalist, a square dancer, a crossword puzzle expert, a ferocious reader, a golfer, an aerobics class attendee for 25 years, and a compassionate champion for children. She served as a figure of strength and love – a matriarch – for more than her immediate family, but extended family and friends.

She had a 20-year tenure at State Mutual in Worcester, MA where she was known to support women’s rights in the workplace, an advocate ahead of her times.

Jini is survived by her beloved family, which includes her sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth and Sheila Haigh of Hilton Head, SC and Gerald and Gina Haigh of Northborough, MA; her grandchildren Althea, Bonnie, Alison and Tony; her great-grandson, Finley; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Jini’s family welcomes you to donate to a cause dear to her heart, children-in-need: Cape Cod Children’s Place at https://capecodchildrensplace.com/.
