Subscription Update Obituary

     Victor B. Pigoga, 94, formerly of Worcester, MA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 in Scalabrini Villa Health Care, North Kingstown. His wife, Hedwig (Jesczerzewski) Pigoga died in 2008. He is survived by his children, Victor J. Pigoga of Exeter, RI and Carol Elliot and her husband Scott of New Hope, PA., five grandchildren, Brian and Devon Elliot of New Hope, PA., Jennifer and Benjamin Pigoga of Exeter, RI, Allison Pigoga of Chicago, IL., and nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, MA., a son of Benjamin and Adell (Bagdis) Pigaga.

Mr. Pigoga was a clerk for the US Postal Service. Prior to that, he worked as the paymaster for Nissen Company in Worcester. As a World War II U.S. Army veteran, Mr. Pigoga was part of the Normandy Invasion and served in the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaigns. He received the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star with Cluster for his service. He was an active member of the American Legion-Vernon Hill Post 435, VFW Post 6907 in West Boylston, MA and the DAV – Chapter 4 in Worcester, MA. He graduated from Worcester Boys’ Trade High School where he played various sports. He continued his athletic career in the Army through boxing. He enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren as well as traveling with his wife Hattie to 5th Division military reunions and Polka Festivals throughout New England. Mr. Pigoga was an avid Holy Cross football fan and enjoyed being outdoors with family.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from HENRY – DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St., Worcester, MA, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in St. Peter Church, 931 Main St., Worcester. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. Calling hours in the funeral home are Monday June 22, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.
