Subscription Update Obituary

     Unto “Andy” A. Anderson, 95, of Pleasant Street, died peacefully at home in the presence of his loving family on Thursday, August 9, 2012, after a long illness. Born in Winooski, Vermont and raised in Maynard, Andy was the son of Finnish immigrants Anton A. and Mary J. (Niemesto) Anderson and lived 68 years in Worcester.

     Andy graduated from Maynard High School and attended Worcester Boy’s Trade High School for post graduate work in mechanical drawing. He worked 40 years for Morgan Construction in Worcester retiring in 1982. He enjoyed skiing, dancing, bowling, playing golf and spending time with his beloved wife and family. After his retirement, Andy and his wife Grace travelled extensively around the world. He enjoyed all sports events and was a true New England sports fan. He was a member of Greendale Retired Men’s Club, SAC Park in Shrewsbury, Finnish Heritage Society Sovittaja in Rutland and Saima Park in Fitchburg.

     He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Grace C. (Sandelin) Anderson; a son, Mark A. Anderson and his wife JoAnne of Worcester; four daughters, Joanne G. Dunlevy with whom he lived, Therese M. Nyberg and her husband Joel of Auburn, Elizabeth A. Comeau and her husband Ronald of Auburn and Laura M. Ladago and her husband John of Worcester; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by a son, Lloyd D. Anderson and a sister, Irene V. Anderson.

     Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Andy’s family from 1 to 2 p.m. on Monday, August 13, followed by a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with The Rev. Dr. R. Gary Heikkila officiating. Interment will be private at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
