Subscription Update Obituary

     Thomas P. Battista, Sr., 74 of Auburn, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Thomas is survived by his devoted wife of fifty years, Stella L. (Turano) Battista; his son, Thomas P. Battista, Jr. and his fiancé Alecia Yelich of West Lake Village, CA; his daughter, Lisa Healey and her husband Thomas of Auburn; two sisters, Rose Richards and her husband Craig of Shrewsbury and Barbara Barton and her husband Raymond of Worcester; three beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Leah & Amanda Healey all of Auburn; two brothers-in-law, Pasquale Turano and his wife Helen of Worcester and Anthony Turano and his wife Annemarie of Grafton; many nieces and nephews.

Thomas was born in Worcester, the son of the late Angelo T. and Louise (Andreoli) Battista. He graduated from North High School and later graduated from Clark University with his bachelor’s degree in business. He served his country in the United States Army. Thomas was an insurance broker for Coface for many years before recently retiring on September 30, 2015. He previously was the Chief Financial Officer for Parker Metal and a credit insurance broker for Euler. Thomas was a member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Auburn and a former member of the Auburn Sportsman Club and the Auburn Elks. He was a strong family man who enjoyed his time with them especially the weeks spent together on Cape Cod every summer.

Services for Thomas will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, October 16th from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: American Cancer Society , P.O.
