Rev. Sydney Alonzo Callender, 83, died on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester. He was the son of the late Alonzo Fitzherbert and Eldica Boyce. Sydney was born in Barbados W.I. He worked for many years as a Steam Fitter for J. G. Lamont and an Assistant Minister from 1968-present at Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church.
     He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Callender, and their children Andrew, Michael, Trevor, Vincent, Marcia, Monica: step children, Maureen, Felix, Leroy, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; brothers, Colin in England, Mitchell in Barbados, and Inez in Barbados, W.I. He enjoyed sports.
     The funeral will be held at Belmont A.M.E. Zion Church, 55 Illinois St., Worcester, MA 01610 on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. The Caswell-King Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
