Subscription Update Obituary

     Susan M. (McCarthy) Donovan, 74, formerly of Assumption Ave., died peacefully at her home in Brookfield on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, surrounded by her family. Her husband of 41 years, Robert J. Donovan, died September 24, 2003. She leaves a son, John F. Donovan of Worcester; two daughters, Maryan Ryan and her husband Christopher of Holden, Theary Ros of New York City; a brother, Peter McCarthy, two sisters, Patricia Toussaint and Maryan McCarthy, all of New York; six grandchildren, Patrick Ryan, Tarsiah Murphy, Nolan Ryan and Owen Ryan, all of Holden, Haley Landry and Jake Donovan of Auburn; and many nieces and nephews. A sister, Johanna Sherman and a brother, Jerry McCarthy, both predeceased her.

She was born and raised in Holland Patent, NY daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Malone) McCarthy. She graduated from Holland Patent High School, moved to Worcester in 1960, and was a graduate of Becker College.

Sue was an administrative assistant in the cardiology department at UMass Medical Center – University Campus where she worked for 33 years until retiring in 2003. She was a member of St. George’s Church and a former member of St. Christopher’s Church where she once served as a Eucharistic Minister. She enjoyed spending time with her family on Cape Cod, her annual trip to Cancun, Mexico with her sister and friends, and loved watching her grandchildren’s athletic activities.

CALLING HOURS will be from 5 to 8 P.M. on THURSDAY, JULY 9 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A.M. on FRIDAY, JULY 10 at ST. GEORGE’S CHURCH, 40 Brattle St., followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA.

The family suggests donations in memory of Sue be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608.
