Susan G. (Mowry) Porcaro, 62, a loving mother, wife and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 7, 2013 in Memorial Hospital, from complications of Scleroderma.
Susan leaves her loving husband of twenty years, Philip C. Porcaro; a wonderful son, Michael C. Martin of Rutland; two beautiful daughters, Jami L. Sokos and her husband Dean, whom she adored, of Paxton and Kelly L. Martin of Rutland; three adored grandchildren, Jordyn Martin, Amanda and Gianna Sokos; her mother and step-father, Joyce (Patnode) and Francis Jacobs of Linwood; her father, Albert Mowry of Casper, WY; her step-mother, G. Carolyn (Agresta) Mowry of Whitinsville; five brothers, Michael Mowry of Jupiter, FL, Craig Mowry of Williamston, SC, Mark Mowry of Thompson, CT, Ryan Mowry of Whitinsville and James Jacobs of Linwood; eight sisters, Catherine Opatka of South Grafton, Sharon Hill of Upton, Daryl-Ann Mowry of Spencer, Robyn Mowry of Webster, Francine Horniak of Woodstock, CT, Lisa Jacobs of Linwood, Sheena Joelson of Cheyenne, WY and Linda Kondratowicz of Dudley; her first husband and best friend, Michael P. Martin; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Dale Mowry. Susan was born in Northbridge and graduated from Northbridge High School, later moving to Worcester, where she raised her family.
Susan was a person with an infectious smile and personality and she was loved by all the people she had the opportunity to serve as a waitress at Rovezzi’s and Albrizzio’s. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She enjoyed the Food Network and The Wheel of Fortune. She loved music, dancing, collecting owls and was a fashion plate. She loved the beach, especially at Plum Island. However, the greatest joy in her life was her family.
She will be remembered for her love, her smile and her free spirit. It has been said that one of her most endearing qualities was that she continued to look at the world like a child, with love, an open mind, an open heart and a thirst to learn and see so much more.
Relatives and Friends will gather for Calling Hours on Thursday, January 10, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.
