Subscription Update Obituary

It is with great sadness that, we the family of Susan Kelley, announce her untimely passing. Susan died on Sunday, Nov. 2nd, 2014, following a very brief battle with breast cancer. She was 69 years young.Known affectionately as “Sue” all her life, Susan Frances Barraclough was born on Jan. 9th, 1945, in Worcester, Mass. The youngest of three daughters, her parents were the late William Leslie and Ruth Mary Schofield Barraclough. The Barraclough family worshiped at the Christ the King Catholic Church. Her sister, Leslie Ruth Wijango has preceded her in death. She is the beloved sister of Judith J. Meadows of Beckley.Susan spent her childhood at Worcester. She was a graduate of Commerce High School. In the early 1960’s Susan met a handsome Irish boy, William Lee Kelley. They were married on Feb. 26th, 1962. To their union was born three children, Jacqueline, Tammy and William Jr. Susan was a devoted wife and homemaker. She loved working with people of special needs and was a dedicated employee at the New England Residential Services. On Sept. 4th, 1994, William Lee Kelley died. Susan’s children were grown and starting their own families. After much thought, Susan moved to Beckley to make her home with her sister, Judy who too had been widowed young. Susan loved her children and grandchildren and made frequent trips back to Massachusetts to see them. Susan leaves to cherish her memory her loving children. They are Jacqueline Leone and her husband, Barry, Tammy Nigro and her husband, David and William L. Kelley Jr., and his wife, Angela. Susan was the doting “Grammy” to eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
The funeral is Monday, November 10th with a service at 10:30 A.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, November 9th from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
