Subscription Update Obituary

     Shirley R. (Grenier) Carter, 84, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 after a long illness.

Her loving husband of 40 years, John W. Carter, passed away in 2016. She is survived by her sister, Joan B. Allen and her husband, David G. of Worcester and nieces and nephews, including her nephew and caregiver, Major Derek A. Grenier, USAFR. She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond E. Grenier, Jr.

Shirley was born in Holyoke, the daughter of the late Raymond E., Sr. and Albina E. (Cisek) Grenier and lived most of her married life in Holden. She graduated from Commerce High School and worked as a bank teller for many years at Worcester County National Bank. She was a member of St. George’s Church, was a talented knitter and enjoyed knitting many afghans for her relatives and friends.

A private committal service will be held at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
