Shirley M. (Cox) Lazour, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on March 24, 2015, surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born in Worcester and remained a lifelong resident of the City. Shirley graduated from the old South High School on Richards Street. During and after high school, Shirley worked at the Park Theater in Main South, and the American Steel and Wire Company. Following the end of World War II, Shirley, like many young people in Worcester, frequented the Johnny Hines Dance Hall on Main Street. There she met a young Naval Aviator, Arthur P. Lazour, just back from the Pacific Ocean Theater, who became the love of her life. Soon after their meeting, they married and spent 55 wonderful years together until he passed away in August, 2004. Shirley spent her early years raising their three children. After her family was grown, she went to work in the administrative offices at Nissan's Bakery in Worcester where she worked until her retirement. Shirley leaves her daughter, Sue A. Paul and her husband Gregory of Boylston, a son and Sue's twin brother, Thomas E. Lazour of Portsmouth NH, and her youngest son, Paul A. Lazour and his wife Nel of Boylston. Shirley was the grandmother of Christopher Paul, Lauren Paul Kukucka, Andrew Lazour, Kathleen Potter, Patrick Lazour and Daniel Lazour. Shirley also leaves five great grand children. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The Family would like to express a special thanks to the hospice team of Jewish Health Care services for all the care, comfort and support they provided to Shirley and her family. In keeping with Shirley's wishes, funeral services were private. Arrangements were under the direction of the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester.
