Subscription Update Obituary

     Shirley A. (Legor) Goulet, 89, was called home to the Lord’s House on Wednesday December 7, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. She leaves behind her husband and best friend of 67 years Paul Goulet Sr. Shirley leaves behind her two sons, Thomas Goulet and his wife Denise and Paul Goulet Jr, and his wife Frances. Shirley also leaves her daughter Cheryl and her husband Joseph Simo. Shirley leaves behind the 5 Grandchildren she adored, Nicole Goulet, Danielle Dussault, Michelle Brady, Kaitlyn Ferreira, and Anthony Simo, she also leaves her 5 great-grandchildren Brianna, Drew, Allie, Declan, and Charley. Shirley also leaves her 2 brothers Patrick Legor and his significant other Carol of Grafton, and Joseph Legor and his wife Joanne of Worcester, and her 2 sisters, Margaret “Claire” Goulet of Sutton and Jean Violante and her husband Raymond of Worcester, several close brothers and sisters in law, and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by three sisters; Eleanor Bechard, Joan Shooshan, and Elizabeth ‘Betty” Stranieri.

Shirley was born in Worcester daughter of the late Arthanas and Elizabeth (Breen) Grigor and lived here all her life. Up until 3 three years ago “Ms. Shirley” as the children called her was a Teacher’s Aide at the Happy Day Child Care Center for almost 40 years. Shirley was a lifelong member of the Church of St. Stephen. She was a woman with the strongest faith possible. She loved going to her novena’s and never missed one in 53 years.

Shirley enjoyed spending Winters in Florida with her husband Paul where they made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed a ride along, whether it was a ride to the market, the mall, or just to visit one of her nieces in College. Shirley loved being with her family and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Christopher House, Brookside Unit for their exceptional care. They always treated her with respect and dignity. And a thank you to the Hospice staff from the Jewish Healthcare Center for their compassionate care also.

Shirley’s funeral will be held on Saturday December 10, 2016 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30AM in the Church of St. Stephen 357 Grafton St. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held on Friday December 9, 2016 from 4PM to 7PM. Interment will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church of St. Stephen Renovation Fund, at the above address.
