Subscription Update Obituary

   Sally (Rennicks) Flaherty, 79, of 24 Pine Haven Dr., died on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after an illness. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend.

   She leaves her husband of 57 years, Walter J. Flaherty; three sons, Thomas R. Flaherty and his wife Cynthia of Holden; Kenneth R. Flaherty and his wife Geraldine of Haverhill and Steven C. Flaherty and his fiancée Carol R. Merchant of Worcester; a daughter, Dawn E. Auger and her husband Wayne of Rutland; a niece, Jane Crabtree, her husband Larry and their children Lisa and Wendy all of Orange, CA; a brother, James Rennicks of Auburn; eight grandchildren, Sam, Ryan, Anne, Christopher, Mathew, Patrick, Timothy and Jessica; two great-grandchildren; many nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Jane Couture and Lois Smith, predeceased her.

   Mrs. Flaherty was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of Thomas and Constance (Perry) Rennicks, before moving to Holden 49 years ago. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and was a food service supervisor at Holden Nursing Home for 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

   Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 23rd, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The funeral service for Mrs. Flaherty will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home followed by burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
