Ruth (Entwistle) Harding, 93, of Worcester, died Saturday, August 15, at home. Her husband of 48 years, William B. Harding, died in 1993. She leaves a daughter, Christine Turpin, and her husband, John, of Charlton; two grandsons, Michael Turpin of Worcester and Andrew Turpin of Charlton; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb and Gracie Turpin of Charlton and Gabriella Turpin of Worcester. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Entwistle, and a sister, Shirley Asselta.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of Charles W. and Mildred (Rudge) Entwistle, and graduated from St. Peter’s High School. Ruth was a bookkeeper for Town Talk Bakery and Caine’s, Inc. for many years. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church.

Ruth’s sharp wit kept her friends and family both amused and on their toes. She loved to golf and to bowl, and also greatly enjoyed crossword puzzles, which she insisted should be done in ink. She volunteered her time at Audio Journal, where she helped bring the written word to the visually impaired. Ruth was involved with several social clubs, including the Red Hat Society and 39ers Club of Coes Pond Village.

More than anything, Ruth loved to spend time with her family, first as a devoted mother to Cris, and then as a mother-in-law to John and grandmother to Mike and Andy. She encouraged each of them to pursue his or her goals and passions, and provided immeasurable love and support. In her final years, her great-grandchildren brought her hours of joy.

Her funeral is Tuesday, August 18th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, August 17th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Network and Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
