Russell E. Dube, Jr., (80) passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Russell E. Dube, Sr. and Dorothy (Braley).

Russ was raised in Worcester, MA, graduated from Boys Trade in 1962, and later joined the Air Force becoming a jet mechanic. While being stationed in Columbus, OH, he helped to renovate the stadium locker room which is when his life-long love of the Ohio State Buckeyes first began. “O-H-I-O”

After fulfilling his duties in the Air Force, he returned to Massachusetts where he was an engineer at Alden Research Laboratories in Holden, building models for water studies. It was here in Holden that he raised his family and was active in the Chaffins Recreation Association coaching Little League and girls basketball for many years. After leaving Alden Research Labs, he became a salesman for Lechmere before retiring.

In later years, he was active in the Greendale Retired Mens Club, traveling overseas with them, as well as being an active member of St. George Church in Worcester. Throughout his retirement, he most enjoyed spending time with his family, especially travelling with them to Ireland, being patrons of the Hanover Theater with his wife, and bowling with his friends.

Russ will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Kathleen (McConville) Dube whom he met when they were children. He leaves his son Ernest and his wife Jennifer of Charlton, his daughter Lynn, with whom he lived, and her husband Thomas Johnson, and his daughter Kara and her husband Seann Burke of Oxford. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren – Nicholas and his wife Niamh, Spencer, Riley, Abigail, Trevor, Delaney, and Brenna as well as three great-grandchildren- Isabelle, Charles, and Amelia. He also leaves one aunt, Elaine Dube of Clinton, his sisters Dorothy Blanchard of California, Cheryl and her husband Guy of Delaware, his brother Robert of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The calling hours will be Tuesday, December 12th, from 3-6 pm at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 13th, at 11:00 am at St. George Church, 40 Brattle St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Philadelphia, 3925 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
