Subscription Update Obituary

     Russell C. Engstrom, 97, ended his journey he started 97 years ago, Thursday, August 27. He was a man of very few words and a heart of gold. He is survived by his loving wife, Mildred (Phillips) Engstrom; a granddaughter, Caron and her husband Dr. Michael Rocha of Dartmouth, MA; two great-grandsons, Jonathan and Jacob; a daughter-in-law, S. Jane Griesbach of Charlton; a sister, Muriel Dube of Leicester; a former daughter-in-law, Phyllis Kelly of Auburn and many nieces and nephews. His first wife Astrid (Gustafson) Engstrom; his son, Don Engstrom; five sisters, Ethel O’Brien, Margaret Jones, Vera Seymour, Evelyn Bannon and Eleanor Williams all predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Carl O.T. and Aina (Ericson) Engstrom.

Russell retired from Norton Company, prior to that he owned a Gulf Service Station in Quinsigamond Village and co-owned Standard Auto both in Worcester. He was a member of the Worcester Men of Song, a Barber Shop Quartet, Worcester Surf Casting Club, the Morning Star Lodge of Masons, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the Aleppo Shriners. Russell loved square dancing and gardening around his homes, he especially loved his former home at 189 Clark Street in Rochdale. He will be sorely missed by many. He lived a wonderful life with the help of Millie’s endless care. He was the love of Millie’s life.

A Private Graveside Service will be held in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Burn Institute. Arrangements in the care of LINDQUIST LUNDIN Funeral Home, 36 Butler Street, Worcester.
