Subscription Update Obituary

     Roy Gabriele, 82, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016, in the peaceful comfort of having his family surrounding his bedside at Saint Francis Home.

     Roy is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Joan (Trafecante) Gabriele; a son, Roy A. Gabriele and his wife Jacquelyn of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Alana M. Penny and her husband Robert H. Penny, Jr. of Shrewsbury; a sister, Florence Lapriore of Worcester; six grandchildren, Anthony Gabriele, Gabriella Penny, Alexandra Penny, Victoria Gabriele, Nicholas Gabriele, and Robert Penny; many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a sister and four brothers, Mildred Stapor, Leonard, Kenneth, Chester, and John Gabriele.  Roy was born in Worcester, son of the late Frank and Mary (Belsito) Gabriele and has lived here all his life.  Roy was educated in the Worcester Public Schools, later serving his nation proudly in the United States Army.
     Roy worked as a pipe insulator for many years with the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers, Local 6, before retiring in 1991.  He was a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church, and was currently a member of Saint Anne’s Church in Shrewsbury.  He loved to be with his family and was well known for his love of Italian music and his ability to fix or build anything.  He was great man with a magnetic personality and was loved by everyone.
     Calling Hours for Roy will be held on Wednesday, October 19, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  His Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Saint Anne’s Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road, (route 9 east), Shrewsbury.  Entombment with Military Funeral Honors will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
