Ross E. Roberts, 77, died peacefully at home on Monday, December 18, 2023 with his devoted wife by his side. He was born in Springfield, the son of Alfred L. and Ruth E. (Watts) Roberts and grew up in Agawam.

Ross attended high school in Agawam and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. From a very young age he had a desire to enter the field of engineering. His long career most notably led him to Intel Corporation, Prime Computer, Digital Equipment, Teradyne and more recently, National Grid. While working at Prime Computer he was awarded a United States Patent, for a Multi Token, Multi Channel Single Bus Network and he was instrumental in developing Prime’s first one megabyte memory board.

Ross’ home away from home was Kennebunkport, ME which he enjoyed exploring in all seasons of the year. An avid and passionate photographer, many of his photos were incorporated into self-published calendars that highlighted his favorite seasonal sights of the town. These calendars were enjoyed by friends and family in Maine, Massachusetts, and beyond. He spent many days with his wife and children, enjoying the port, with the most memorable of these being his birthday. He was a man of quiet quality and gentle demeanor which earned him lifelong friends along the way and he could easily debate with the best over a glass of fine scotch.

Ross is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Ann M. Soucy; his sons, Erik Roberts and his wife, Michele Anello of Boston, Mark Roberts and his wife, Amanda Bruno Roberts of York, ME and David Roberts of Lowell; and his grandchildren, Theodore Roberts and Caroline Bruno.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ross’ name to the American Heritage Museum. Donations can be made online at www.American Heritage Museum.org/donate/.
