Subscription Update Obituary

Rosemarie Anne (Donnelly) Stowell, 91, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

She was born in Worcester on February 2, 1935, the daughter of Mary (Esonis) and Thomas James Donnelly. Rosemarie attended Commerce High School and graduated with honors. After graduating, she worked at Morgan Linen and then at the office of Dr. George Kerkonan, until she married Warren Andrew Stowell on May 10, 1958. Together they had three children, Doreen Marie, Warren Andrew Jr., and Todd Andrew.

Rosemarie and Warren’s first home was in Leicester, and in 1964 they built their home in Jefferson. In 1985, her husband was stationed in St. Louis, MO. The couple moved to St. Louis and rented their home in Jefferson. Rosemarie retired from her job as a cashier at Spags in Shrewsbury after 10 years. She volunteered at St. Sebastion Church until 1993, when her husband Warren retired from the U.S. Army after 41 years of service.

Rosemarie and Warren happily returned to their home in Jefferson, where they spent the rest of their years. They spent their summers in Cape Cod, where they loved days at the beach and relaxing in their cozy trailer home. Rosemarie loved gardening, knitting and crocheting gifts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Rosemarie was predeceased by her husband, Warren, in 2020. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her children, Todd and his wife,  Kourtney, Warren Jr. and his wife, Patricia, and Doreen and her husband, Dave; her grandchildren; Erin, Patrick, and Matthew McGinnis, Douglas, Melissa, and Michael Stowell and Shae Stowell; as well as many great grandchildren; nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave., Paxton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 2200, Jefferson, MA 01522.
