Subscription Update Obituary

Ronald Raivio Sr., 90, of Worcester, passed away in UMass Memorial Medical Center – Memorial Campus after an illness.

Mr. Raivio was married to the late Lucille (Hertz) Raivio and is survived by his children; Cheryl Raivio of Worcester, Linda O’Connor Ramm and her husband, Stephen of Worcester and Joseph O’Connor of Grafton; a sister, Betty Murphy of Auburn; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Ronald was born in Worcester, son of the late Laurie and Fannie (Ruohonen) Raivio and is also predeceased by a son, Ronald Raivio Jr.; two brothers, Richard Raivio and Wally Stevenson and two sisters, Sally Desrosiers and Barbara Sweat.

Mr. Raivio proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked for Table Talk Pies and retired from Automatic Rolls Company where he worked many years as a machine operator.

Ronald could often be found sitting outside of his home smoking his pipe and having lovely chats with his neighbors. However, he was the happiest when he was spending time at York Beach and being with his grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 10 at 12:30 PM in Worcester County Memorial Park 217 Richards Avenue Paxton. Memorial contributions in memory of may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust 401 Park Drive, Suite 602 Boston, MA 02215.
