Subscription Update Obituary

Robert W. Scott, Jr., 63, of South Yarmouth, MA, and formally of Paxton, MA, passed away on Tuesday September 13, 2011.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Lillian (Dougall) Scott and Robert W. Scott, Sr. Robert is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margaret (Murray) Scott and two daughters, Allison E. Vickstrom and her husband Andrew of Worcester and Victoria A. Detschner and her husband Steven of South Yarmouth. He also leaves a granddaughter Olivia, a grandson Bradley, a sister Carole Paskalis of Worcester, three nieces and several cousins.

Robert was a graduate of Burncoat Senior High School in Worcester. He joined Vista (Volunteers in Service to America), while attending the University of Maryland and later attended Cape Cod Community College. He worked ten years with the Southbridge school system as the Director of Food Services before accepting the position of Food Service Director with the Mashpee public school system. For many years he was responsible for the food service management of the Massachusetts School Superintendents Conference held in Mashpee. He attended Becker College School of Nutrition and was a member of the National School Nutrition Association, the Highland Light Association and the Hyannis Yacht Club.

Robert loved living on Cape Cod where he enjoyed gardening, the beach, leisurely drives down Route 6A, and the time spent with family and friends who enjoyed his cooking and quirky sense of humor.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, Sept. 16 from 4 – 8pm at the Morris, O’Connor & Blute Funeral Home, 58 Long Pond Dr., South Yarmouth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 9am at Saint Pius x Church, Station Ave., South Yarmouth. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, MA, on Saturday, September 24, at 10am.
