Robert Paul Lombardi, 75, of Worcester, MA passed away on March 24th 2016 while in Tucson, Arizona on vacation. He was born in 1940 in Worcester, a son of Joseph and Mary (De Angelis) Lombardi and lived most of his life within the city.

After graduating from North High School he studied drafting and architectural engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology and at the Boston Architectural Center. Shortly thereafter, he was employed as a draftsman at Wyman Gordon Company and served as a registered architect at Harvey and Tracy Associates of Worcester, for more than forty years. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Lombardi was involved in numerous successful construction projects throughout the Commonwealth such as the unique Hot Isostatic Pressing facilities at Wyman Gordon Company, Bay State Savings Bank branch offices, and several Worcester Public School facilities including the Roosevelt, Quinsigamond and Harlow Street locations. Towards the end of his career he served as an architect at Francis Harvey & Sons of Worcester, and played a significant role in the structural concrete design of over forty-five projects including the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center Wind Technology Testing Center in Charlestown, MA; the largest facility in the world for wind turbine blade evaluation.

Robert followed a purposeful, virtuous life embracing honesty, positive thinking and industriousness tempered with care and compassion for his family. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening and playing golf.

He leaves his sons Dr. John L. Lombardi (Tucson, AZ) and Robert L. Lombardi (Worcester): a sister Donna M. (Lombardi) Kachadoorian (Worcester) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard J. Lombardi and his wife Jacqueline (Dame) Lombardi whom he was married to for fifty-three years and passed away this January 18th. Robert will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Calling Hours for Robert will be held on Thursday, April 7th from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in the Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Friday, April 8th from the funeral home departing in procession at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester.
